This is Carlos Jones coming to you to thank you for allowing me to survive and prosper as a performing musician for over 40 years now. Starting with I-Tal, then First Light, and now for the last 21 years, with the Peace, Love, Unity Syndicate or as we like to call it, “The PLUS Band.”
Over the course of my career, I’ve released at least 10 recordings with my various groups and have continued to write and record more original songs. As you can see from the name of my band – Peace, Love, and Unity is a recurring theme of my music and lyrics and I feel that I still have more to say to bring that message to as many people as I can. I’ve got a great crew of experienced, professional musicians, along with an experienced manager and support team that I’ve been working with for over 20 years. We’re ready to put out another full length recording, and I feel it will be my best yet!
But the economics of recording and releasing music today is totally different than what it was when I first started in the business. Fewer people choose to “buy and own” their music today, which means it is very difficult for us to recoup the amount of money that it takes to record, produce, distribute, and market this type of project. We’ve just gone into the recording studio to lay down the basic rhythm tracks, and now we’ll need to go back in and add more layers to the sound, then mix it all down, get it mastered to add the final piece that gives the recording that polished sound. From there, we have to create the artwork for the packaging, then get the cd’s and vinyl albums manufactured. We estimate from past projects, that this will cost us a minimum of $10,000. Then if we want to properly market this to reach as many people as possible, there are more things that we can do – like make a video, hire a PR company, and hire a radio promoter. But right now, we need to get this project recorded and ready to take the next steps, so that we can try and have this ready to release by early 2020.
We’ve got some serious songs with hard-hitting lyrics like Congo Man, Hearts and Hands, Heavy Machinery, and Now is the Time. But this project also has some care-free, fun tracks like Reggae Family Party, Dancing in the Sand, and Birthday Jammin’ as music can both deliver a message, but also give you a release from your day-to-day troubles. That’s what we try to do with our music when we play. We’re calling this album – “A New Day”.
So this is where you all come in. We don’t expect you to just give us money. We’re going to give you something back in return and make this a fun experience as well as a team effort. So I hope you’ll check out our rewards packages and pick something that fits in with your personal budget. Without you we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. It’s all about mutual love and respect we have with each other. Hit us up with any questions. comments, or suggestions and as always – THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
