Cleveland, Ohio \u2013 Something special seems to be brewing on the North Coast these days as Cleveland\u2019s native son, Carlos Jones and his \u201cPeace, Love, Unity Syndicate\u201d (aka The P.L.U.S. Band), continue to draw record crowds this summer with an incredible run of shows over the last few weeks.<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Starting off with a packed house at the Music Box Supper Club on June 14<\/span>th<\/span> for the Happy Hour Concert Series, broadcast live by OWOW radio, Jones played his first show at the Larchmere Porchfest series later that week and drew the largest crowd ever according to the event\u2019s promoter, Michael Kinsella. \u00a0Less than two weeks later on June 28<\/span>th<\/span>, Jones\u2019s crowd was upwards of 10,000 people at the Wade Oval Wednesday event. \u00a0A few days later, Jones and the group opened for comedy legends Cheech and Chong at Nelson\u2019s Ledges, and once again, the venue was packed with an estimated 6,000 campers. \u00a0Topping off this run of shows, the group made its debut appearance at the Metroparks\u2019s Edgewater LIVE concert event, drawing close to 20,000 people on an absolutely beautiful summer night, where the group delivered a great set of Jones\u2019s signature roots reggae \u2013 a perfect fit for the sun setting on Lake \u201cIrie.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Why is it that Clevelanders have totally embraced this man and his music? \u00a0Isn\u2019t Cleveland a \u201crock and roll\u201d town? \u00a0How is it that an artist performing roots reggae music has become the city\u2019s most popular local artist, by far outdrawing other groups at area venues? \u00a0It\u2019s not that he\u2019s getting a lot of airplay on local radio, although his song \u201cThe Cleveland Beat\u201d has been in light rotation on both OWOW (internet radio) and Akron\u2019s 91.3 FM \u201cThe Summit\u201d for almost two years. \u00a0According to OWOW\u2019s Music Director, Steve Pappas, that song has become an anthem for reggae music lovers. \u00a0The lyrics might provide a clue: \u00a0\u201cPeople want to dance \/ whenever they get the chance.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Jones definitely lays down pulsating dance grooves but also stresses a message of peace and love in his lyrics. \u00a0What other artist has ever incorporated The Lord\u2019s Prayer into the middle of a song?
