Rock ‘N Rescue CLE 2023:
“Fighting a Good Fight for an Ugly Business! “
Deanna R. Adams
If you’re looking for something to do to wrap up this fleeting summer, I have the perfect event!
It combines having a good time and benefitting an important cause. This year’s Rock ’N Rescue is coming up on Thursday, September 14th at the FWD Day + Nightclub – with great musical acts and a mission.
The mission is the brainchild of realtor, Al Stasek, who, in 2015, decided to put together a benefit (originally called Rock ‘N Restock) that would make a difference in people’s lives. “I gave thought to who might need money the most,” he says. “I was first inspired by Nicki Gregory, who is founder of AgentsCat (Agents Against Child Trafficking) then, after seeing what Renee Jones does along the same lines—that gave me the answer.”
Renee Jones heads the Renee Jones Empowerment Center, the only 501(c)(3) organization in Northeast Ohio dedicated to programs and services that puts a positive spin on the dark reality of human trafficking through life coaching and aftercare assistance. Jones is known for pioneering that awareness, starting back 20 years ago. She seeks an end to the ugly business that’s happening throughout the United States and beyond. Sadly – and shockingly – Ohio ranks fifth in the top 10 states highest in Human Trafficking.
“I’ve been in the streets with Renee so I’ve seen first-hand the difference she makes by providing whatever kind of help victims need, including something as simple as clothing and personal care items,” says Stasek. “She’s a true super hero.”
Now each year, Stasek and sister, Allison, who is also a realtor, joins the super hero group by organizing the annual Rock ’N Rescue, which benefits the Renee Jones Empowerment Center, Love Justice International, and AgentsCat (Agents Against Child Trafficking).
This year, Carlos Jones headlines with special guests, G. Love and Special Sauce, whose Hip-Hop Blues combines hip-hop with Delta blues and rock ‘n roll funky soul. “We always love it when Carlos is on board,” Stasek says, “He’s just a ray of sunshine, an amazing human being.” Then he adds, “Nicki Gregory gave me three important ways to live that I always keep in mind. They are:
1) To be aware of the needs around us.
2) Find out how I can help
3) Find a way to raise the money to help
We could all live by that inspiration, and we can all agree that blending music with missions can be one of the best ways to help others. So secure your spot at the party and go to www.mrcle.com for tickets for you and your friends before it sells out (It has in the past).
Doors open at 6 pm., and they’ll be a 50/50 raffle. And just $37 will get you admission to this fun-filled, musical night of good vibes, goodwill and camaraderie.
Note: If you’re interested in being a sponsor for this important cause, go to www.sponsor.mrcle.com, select your sponsorship, and fill out the form. That’s it! Get your tix today!
