Scene Magazine Awards 2004

Date:  7/30/04
Subject:  Scene Awards 04
Hey Everybody!

I would just like to say THANK YOU to everyone involved with the
Scene Cleveland Music Awards this year, and to all of you who took
the time to vote for us as "Best Live Act". I'm still not quite over
the shock yet. I didn't think it was possible for a reggae band to
walk away with that award in a rock-n-roll town, but I hope we can
continue to earn the love and respect of our fans, and we look
forward to more shows where we can keep on lifting the spirits of
those who come to see us. LET'S KEEP THE FIRE BURNING! REGGAE MUSIC
4EVER!
Always Peace,
Carlos

From Best Live Act:
"Carlos Jones and the P.L.U.S. Band is the Cal Ripken of this category, drawing hundreds of fans to local rock hangs like the Blind Pig every single weekend for years. Soulful and socially aware, Jones is one of Cleveland's best-loved artists. -- Jason Bracelin"

From Best Reggae / World Act:

"Earlier this summer, Carlos Jones and the P.L.U.S. Band released their debut disc, Roots With Culture, after more than a decade together. Full of impassioned roots-reggae, the disc was well worth the wait. Their live performances remain a joyous occasion -- Jones is now fronting his best lineup since leading Cleveland's legendary First Light. -- Jason Bracelin"

"Heightening the communal vibe were Carlos Jones and the P.L.U.S. Band, who turned in a short, sharp set of limber roots reggae. With well-toned arms jutting out of a sleeveless shirt, Jones brightened the day just as the sun began to fade. Leisurely rhythms and Jones's honeyed voice made for ideal happy-hour accompaniment. Afterward, he took pictures with fans and never seemed to stop smiling. -- Jason Bracelin"
